Lisa Ann MacGregor (formerly Steindel), 63, of Dunmore, Pa., and Charlotte, N.C., passed away suddenly on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2024, at Atrium Health Mercy Hospital, Charlotte, N.C.
Born on May 9, 1961, Lisa was the beloved daughter of the late Barbara and Edgar Steindel. She was a 1979 graduate of Dunmore High School and pursued studies in occupational therapy at Penn State University.
Lisa was the mother of four sons, Justin MacGregor (and wife, Brittany), of Dunmore, Pa.; Zachary MacGregor, of Dunmore, Pa.; Dylan MacGregor (and wife, Stacy), of Waverly, Pa.; and Robert MacGregor III (and wife, Jackie), of Scranton, Pa. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Brooke, Adrianna, Maryn, Grant and Molly MacGregor. Additionally, Lisa is survived by her loving brother, John Steindel (and partner, Kathy Folan) of Blossvale, N.Y.; her niece, Jessica Santos (and husband, Garrett), of Rocklin, Calif.; and many cousins, including her best friend, Susan Kagen, and her dear cousin, Joe Vogelbacher, both of Charlotte, N.C.
Lisa shared a special bond with her father, with whom she and her children lived until his unexpected passing in 2002, a turning point in her life. Though she faced many challenges thereafter, including a long battle with mental health and addiction, she remained connected to her extended family, particularly during the last few years of her life, which she spent in Charlotte, N.C. There, she found comfort and companionship with her cousin and best friend, Susan Kagen, creating cherished memories together.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Joe Vogelbacher Sr., Joe Vogelbacher Jr. and Susan Kagen for their unwavering love, kindness, generosity and support during Lisa's final years. Their compassion brought her peace and happiness, offering her a sense of belonging and solace in her last years.
A private service and celebration of life was held by her extended family on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024. Lisa's ashes will be lovingly spread on Oneida Lake, N.Y., a place of deep significance, where her father passed away in 2002.
We pray that Lisa has found peace and will be remembered with love and affection by all who knew her.
