Margaret M. "Marg" Strein, 73, of Old Forge, died Saturday at the Scranton Health Care Center, after an illness.
Born March 29, 1951, daughter of the late Robert and Linda Semenza Strein, she was educated in St. Mary's Parochial School, Old Forge, and then graduated from Cathedral High School in Scranton. Marg then earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wilkes University. She was a lifelong parishioner of Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge.
Marg was very fond of many types of art. She was a self-taught pianist, loved to spend time in her garden and would often express herself in writing. She was a very intelligent, and private and humble person. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Her family extends a well-deserved acknowledgement to both the Lehigh Valley Health Network and the Scranton Health Care Center for the level of care, kindness and compassion they presented to Marg.
Surviving are her sister, Mary Ellen Stacchiotti, Old Forge; a niece, Brandey Terruso (Anthony), and their children, Lucia and Anthony, Durham, N.C.; a nephew, Rocco Stacchiotti (Marissa), and their daughter, Siena, Jefferson Twp.; and cousins.
Marg was also preceded in death by her son, Gary Strein, in 2021; and brother-in-law, Paul Stacchiotti.
The funeral will be Friday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Prince of Peace Parish, 123 W. Grace St., Old Forge, to be celebrated by the Rev. August A. Ricciardi, pastor. Interment will be privately held in Holy Cross Cemetery, Old Forge.
A public viewing will be Friday at the church from 9 to 10 a.m.
