Mary Lucille "Mary Lu" (Risboskin) Kindzierski, 82, most recently a resident of Allied Skilled Nursing, Scranton, formerly of Old Bridge, New Jersey, passed away Tuesday evening at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. Her husband was the late Peter Kindzierski, who passed away in 1999. The couple shared 20 years together.
Born Nov. 25, 1941, in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late William and Mary Simoncic Risboskin. Mary Lu was a 1959 graduate of Forest City High School. Mary Lu also graduated from Rutgers University in 1983 while working full time and raising two daughters. Mary Lu was employed as a director of information services with Supermarkets General Corporation, Pathmark for 25 years and, prior to her retirement, worked for ShopRite for 10 years. She was especially proud of her contribution to computer generated ordering or "CGO." Her leadership, hard work and dedication earned her many promotions and awards. Mary Lu was proud to practice her Roman Catholic faith which was very important to her.
Not one to sit still very long, Mary Lu started a ceramics business after retirement and loved to travel to various craft shows where she met so many wonderful and creative people. One of her passions was dancing. Just getting out and moving and cutting the rug gave her great joy. Mary Lu enjoyed playing bingo, card games, and visiting a casino on occasion where she enjoyed blackjack and slot machines. She was an enthusiastic reader and incredible creative writer - her stories and essays were enjoyable by all who were lucky enough to read them. A wonderful soul full of life, she could make you feel like a lifelong friend after a short time in conversation. The pain that we are going through right now is greatly outweighed by the joy we have in our hearts from having had Mary Lu in our lives.
Surviving are her loving daughters, Miriam Terry and husband, Kevin, Portsmouth, Va.; and Laura Rosten, Suffolk, Va.; stepson, Pete Kindzierski and wife, Dianne; grandchildren, Danielle, Tyler, Kevin and Megan; great-grandchildren, Jake and Tommy; a brother, William Risboskin and wife, Toni, Waverly, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition, daughter, Mary; son-in-law, Alan Rosten; and granddaughter, Erica Marie, preceded her in death.
A Celebration of Mary Lu's life will be held at a later date to be announced.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675. Mary Lou and my sister, Mary Ann Bullett, were good friends when they were little girls. May they both rest in peace in the hands of our Lord. I will have a Mass for Mary Lou Risboskin at a later date. May the family find peace.
