Nancy Gallagher, 81, of South Abington Twp., died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 4, 2023, in Geisinger Community Medical Center.
Born March 28, 1942, in Scranton, Nancy was the daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Flannigan) Gallagher. Nancy graduated from Central High School and Marywood College. She taught first grade for many years in the Scranton School District at both Alexander Hamilton Elementary School and Charles Sumner Elementary School.
Nancy loved to travel and enjoyed many memorable trips with family and friends. She especially loved spending time on Cape Cod.
Surviving are her sister, Maureen Helring, of South Abington Twp.; and two nieces, Maureen Helring McLaughlin and her husband, Jeffrey E. McLaughlin, of Waverly Twp., Pa.; and Nancy Helring Meyers and her husband, Shawn D. Meyers, of Chambersburg, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, John Helring.
Nancy's funeral will take place Saturday, April 15, at 10:30 a.m. from the Church of St. Gregory, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by the Rev. John M. Lapera, pastor. The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 9 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at the church. Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Center Foundation, 2010 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.
