Patricia Reed Obituary

Patricia Reed of Moosic died Wednesday.

Daughter of the late Angelo and Elizabeth D'Adamo Adonizio, she was born and raised in Pittston. She was a graduate of St. Ann's Academy in Wilkes-Barre, and Marywood University in Scranton, where she earned degrees in speech therapy and counseling. She worked in many facets, including speech therapist at the Kirby Health Center working with hearing impaired children, and St. Ann's Academy, her alma mater, in the elementary grades as a speech therapist. She continued her education at LCCC and Marywood for counseling, and was employed at First Hospital for many years on the Intensive Care Unit.

Patricia married the love of her life, Warren, and recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary. They resided in Forty Fort, for many years, where they raised their children, Joe and Pam. She was very active in the community, serving on the board of Pettibone Elementary School and the Forty Fort Flyers Football Association. She was a cheerleading coach for the Forty Fort Flyers, and a member of the Forty Fort Business Association. Patricia and Warren left Forty Fort in 1997, and moved to Moosic.

An avid golfer, she was very proud of her two holes-in-one at Glenmaura National Golf Club. She was a member of the Glenmaura Social Committee and Women's Golf Association, where she served as president in 2005. She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. Patricia's greatest joy in life was her family and friends. She took great pride in her husband, children and grandchildren's accomplishments. Spending time with them was of utmost importance to her and she cherished the family get-togethers during the holidays. She valued her friendships. She loved the many conversations during and after a round of golf with her friends. She was never too busy or too tired for a friend in need. She will be missed by all those whose lives she entered, especially her grandchildren, who will sorely miss their "Nanny."

The family of Patricia would like to thank family and friends for all of their support. Special thanks to the nurses of Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Randi, Mary Ellen, Pat and Shannon and her social worker, Melissa (Missy), and to Dr. Saidman, Dr. Gibbons and Dr. Scrobola for their compassion and support during difficult times.

Surviving are her husband, Warren; son, Joseph and wife, Abigail Reed, Mountaintop; daughter, Pam and husband, Philip Mahasky, Duryea; grandchildren, Makaila, Kayla, Kalli, Karli and Jackson; brother-in-law, Edward Machey, Exeter; cousins and nieces; and her former son-in-law, Steve Stelma, who she was very fond of, and who has always been considered one of her family members.

Patricia was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ann Machey.

A blessing service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William St., Pittston. Friends may call Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m., and Monday from 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton, at the convenience of the family.

Warren,Pam, and Joe, I am so very sorry for your loss. Your mom taught me a lot in my life as I was raising my children on my own. She was kind, compassionate and a very caring woman who always gave of herself to help and be there for others. I loved working with her at First Hospital and the many times we shared together. She more than earned her wings to be in Heaven and I know that is exactly where she is right now looking down on us. I truly loved her and cherished my friendship with her,she was a gift to me through my difficult times in my life. God speed and may he keep her in his loving arms. Daryl Metric
