Paul J. Daniels, 76, of Carbondale, died Tuesday at home after an illness. He is survived by his wife, the former Constance Gilroy.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late John and Mary Nolan Daniels, he was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, class of 1962. He was a veteran of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, 109th Infantry during the Vietnam War era. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the City of Carbondale, Department of Public Works. He was a member of the American Legion Post 221, Columbia Hose Company 5 and the Knights of Columbus Council 329, all of Carbondale.
Also surviving are two sons, Paul J. Daniels Jr. and wife, Mary Rose, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and William D. Daniels and wife, Mary, Carbondale; three grandsons, William D. Daniels and wife, Kayleen; Joshua D. Daniels and Paul J. Daniels III; a granddaughter, Caitlyn Rose Daniels; two great-grandsons, Leon D. and William D.; a great-granddaughter, Elliot "Ellie"; two brothers, Gerard Daniels, Carbondale; and Joseph Daniels and wife, Marcy, Carbondale; a sister, Shelia Dianne Peterka and companion, Stan, Dickson City; a sister-in-law, Marilynn Daniels, Carbondale; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Daniels; a granddaughter-in-law, Kristin Daniels; and a sister-in-law, Ann Daniels.
The funeral will be Saturday with services at 3 p.m. by Pastor Norm Demming in the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time.
