Peter Tonetti, 75, of Vero Beach, Florida, formerly of Honesdale, died peacefully March 9 after an illness.
Born in Scranton on Oct. 25, 1947, he was the son of the late Paul and Beatrice Tonetti. Pete was a graduate of Dunmore High School, class of 1965. An honorably discharged veteran of the United States Air Force, Pete served his country in Vietnam in the military police division. He went on to continue a life of public service, and graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Hershey. Pete enjoyed his career as a Pa. state trooper, and retired at the rank of corporal in 1993. Following his retirement, he established Tonetti Plumbing which he owned and operated for several years.
An avid outdoorsman, Pete absolutely loved fishing and hunting and was a member of the Scrub Oak Hunting Club. He was also a member of the Italian American Club and the Eagles. Pete maintained a lifelong respect for fellow veterans and was a proud member of the VFW. He always enjoyed the company of good friends; Pete was also an active member of the Honesdale Golf Club until he moved to Florida in 2018. Golfing and playing pool were among his favorite things to do. He traveled extensively to enjoy what he loved most.
Surviving are his daughter, Kendra Wayman; his son, Paul Tonetti; four grandchildren, Chynna Walker, Maya Wayman, Trey Wayman and Sierra Tonetti; great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mauri Rafalko and her husband, Eddie; and Lisa Boylan and her husband, Tom; a brother, Michael Tonetti and his wife, Diane; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marla Tonetti.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, April 23, at 2 p.m. at the Honesdale Golf Club, 121 Golf Hill Road, Honesdale, PA 18431.

Pete was my high school buddy .. class of 65. What a guy, always a good time. Haven't seen much of him in last 20yrs, but when I did it was always . .'remember the time' ... RIP buddy.
