Randy W. Black, 68, of Lake Ariel, went to heaven on Feb. 28, 2024 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient unit after a courageous, four-year battle with Glioblastoma.
Born in Carbondale, Pa. on Jan. 10, 1956, he was the fourth son of Wallace and Mabel Edwards-Black. Randy was raised in Lake Ariel where he and his brothers spent most of their time in the great outdoors and shared their passion for hunting. Randy was a member of the first graduating class from Western Wayne High School.
Randy's adventures took him to Texas where he worked on oil rigs, eventually returning home to Pennsylvania. Most of his life, he worked as a heavy equipment operator, an excavator was like an extension of his body. Also, he was a very talented carpenter and could build anything from a jewelry box to a house.
He shared his love of the great outdoors with his entire family. His patience and kindness were a gift to all. He loved hard and we are so grateful for that.
Randy is survived by his beloved wife of over 40 years, Debbie. Their love is something to be emulated. Also surviving are his daughters, Bonnie Edwards and her husband, Danny, of Moscow, Pa.; and Debbie Zimmerman, of Deltona, Fla.; his grandchildren, Nichole Stine, Michael Matthews, Randi Brown, Gabrielle Edwards and Jack Edwards; great-grandchildren, Kolby, Karson, Jayden and Cole; his brothers, Ronnie Black and his wife, Lewanna, of South Canaan; Ray Black and his wife, Gayle, of Lake Ariel; Robert Black and his wife, Ann, of Lake Ariel; aunts, Alice VanSickle and Doris Shaffer; his best friend, Ralph Metzger; and his beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his cousins, Scott and Lenny Black; nephew, Brad Black; and niece, Stacy Black.
The family would like to thank the angels at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit in Dunmore, for their kindness shown during this difficult time.
Private cremation took place at Lake Region Crematory in the James Wilson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 4, at 6 p.m. in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel, Pa.
