Robert W. Applegate, 63, of West Scranton, died Thursday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. His wife of 35 years is the former Virginia "Jennie" McAndrew.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of Marilyn Chase Applegate and the late Harvey Applegate. He was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and Lackawanna Junior College. Before his illness, he was employed for 25 years at Cinram, and most recently as a direct service professional for Keystone Community Resources.
An avid sports fan, Bob rooted for the Dallas Cowboys, enjoyed watching NASCAR and his favorite driver Dale Earnhardt Sr., and bowling.
Also surviving are daughter, Megan Barnes and husband, David, Washington; siblings, Neil Applegate and his wife, Mary Rose, Scott Twp., Donald Applegate, Scranton, Lynn Soloski and her husband, Edward, Scranton, Eileen Applegate-Huegel and her husband, John, Scranton, Nancy Applegate, Scranton, and Lt. David Applegate and his wife, Tamara, Scranton; several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 1403 Jackson St., Scranton. Friends and family may pay their respects Tuesday morning from 8:30 a.m. until Mass time in the church.
Arrangements and on-site cremation are under the care and direction of the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., Scranton.
