Robert F. Noone of Scranton died Tuesday at Geisinger Community Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen King Noone, who died Aug. 4, 2003.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Daniel and Lucille Jackson Noone and was a graduate of the University of Scranton. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of St. Paul's Parish, Scranton. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the Scranton School District.
Surviving are a daughter, Maury and husband, Jeff Ghergo, of Scranton; a son, Robert F. Noone Jr., Scranton; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and a niece and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Brian P. Noone; and a brother, Daniel Noone.
Bob was known as Bob-a Lou, or Louie to his friends. He was proud to be from North Scranton, and he was fortunate to have lifelong friendships with many he had met there during childhood. He was an easy going and friendly person who was well known around town. He enjoyed spending summers at his cottage on Lake Winola. He was an avid Notre Dame and Dallas Cowboys fan. He even named his beloved dog Emmitt after his favorite player. He adored his wife Kate and missed her greatly in the years after she passed. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Church, 1510 Penn Ave., Scranton. Interment will be private.
Friends may call at the church Saturday from 9 a.m. until Mass time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lackawanna County Veterans Home.
