Samuel Thomas Bio, 74, of Eynon, died Thursday afternoon at Geisinger Hospital in Danville surrounded by his loving family. His wife of 46 years was the former Barbra Snarcavage Bio.
Born in Peckville, he was the son of the late Carmen and Elda Mashie Bio. Sam was a graduate of Archbald High School, and attended the University of Scranton and Keystone College. Prior to his retirement, he worked in collections for Emery, Consolidated Freight and UPS.
Sammy was a kind and loving husband, father, Pop-Pop, brother and friend who will be dearly missed. His quick wit and sense of humor were two of his many admired attributes.
Sam was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to his grandchildren's games. He enjoyed playing and umpiring softball and refereeing basketball and soccer. He had a heart of gold and was a father figure to many. He left an impact on everyone he met and will greatly be missed.
Also surviving are his children, Marisa Siekierka and husband James, Peckville, and Lyndsay Paone and husband Nicholas, Archbald; his grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Jackson, Cooper and Ryder Siekierka, and Palmer, Madelyn and Emersyn Paone; his sister, Donna Bio, Eynon; sisters-in-law, Sally Nichols and husband Randy, Scott Twp. and Peggy Snarcavage, Dickson City; brothers-in-law, Frank Snarcavage and wife Dara, and Stanley Snarcavage and partner, John, all of Florida; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, David Snarcavage; and a mother-in-law, Lillian Snarcavage.
The funeral will be on Tuesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Parish, St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Archbald. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, Eynon.
