Theresa Stevens Obituary

Theresa Stevens, 67, of the Minooka section of Scranton, passed away Saturday evening after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late John C. and Anna (Walsh) Stevens, she was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and Mercy Radiology School. She devoted her 45-year health service career to treating cancer patients as a radiation oncology technician at both Mercy Hospital and NROC. Her endearing kindness and empathy for patients and all those around her defined Theresa as both a professional and loving sister and aunt. She perfected the art of friendship and her smile, wit and poise served as an inspiration to all those who knew her.

In her free time, Theresa enjoyed Zumba classes, cooking and shopping. She had a flair for decorating and was an accomplished gardener, as evidenced by her Minooka home.

Surviving are two sisters, Juliana Fiorillo and husband, Tom, Pottsville; and Zita Timlin and husband, Dennis, Scranton; two brothers, John Stevens and wife, Terry, Cape Coral, Fla.; and Joe Stevens, Scranton; eight nieces, Alyson Fiorillo, Amy Strauss, Erin, Colleen and Kaylee Timlin, Kathleen and Danielle Stevens and Jaclyn Worthington; two great-nieces, Madelyn Strauss and Charlotte Heier; a great-nephew, Logan Strauss; her best friend, Donna Caputo; and her two closest furry companions, Roxy and Joshua.

A special thank you to her NROC family for the exceptional support and care they provided her throughout the years.

The funeral will be Thursday at 9:45 a.m. from the Eagen-Hughes Funeral Home, 2908 Birney Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in Divine Mercy Parish, to be celebrated by the Rev. Francis Pauselli, pastor. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NROC for the enhancement of patient care services, 1110 Meade St., Dunmore, PA 18512.

Z, since I will be away I won't be able to express my condolences in person. You've shared some of the struggles your sister had, particularly as they relate to my family. I'm sorry for your and your family's loss.
