Thomas Owens Obituary

Thomas L. Owens, 59, of Port Orange, Fla., and a former resident of the Midvalley, died Feb. 14 in South St. Paul, Minn., after being stricken ill while working.

Born in Peckville, son of the late Roy and Sheryl Leek Owens, he was a resident of the Midvalley area for most of his life. He was employed as a truck driver by Swift Transportation, Florida.

A Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and Luzerne County Community College. He was a licensed paramedic with various ambulance services in the Midvalley area. He was a member of Throop Hose Company 2, and an avid pool player and golfer.

Surviving are two sons, Michael Owens, Iraq; and Thomas Owens, Blakely; three grandchildren; a brother, Roy Owens, Mayfield; a sister, Sheryl Owens, Port Orange; and cousins.

Memorial services will be Monday at noon at the John F. Glinsky Funeral Home, 445 Sanderson St., Throop, with the Rev. Arthur W. Davis officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Fairview Mausoleum, Elmhurst.

Friends may call Monday, 11 a.m. until service time.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Tom was a very sweet person. All the time I spent with his daughter Nicole (MY BEST FRIEND) He was like a second father to me. He will be sadly missed by all. I'm sure Nicole welcomed him to heaven with open arms and is at peace with his baby girl.
