Victor Fleck

Victor Fleck, 85, of West Scranton, died Friday at Geisinger Community Medical Center. His wife of 63 years is Dorothy Karsnak Fleck.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Michael and Mamie Adamczyk Fleck. He was a life member of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church, its choir, of which he served as president, the American Ukrainian Veterans Association (Ukavets), where he was a chaplain, auditor, sergeant-at-arms and board member. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and served as a sergeant with the 1st Battalion of the 179th Infantry Regiment and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, the National Defense Service, the United Nations Service, the Good Conduct and the Korean Service with two service stars medals.

Victor was employed for 36 years with Asplundh Tree Experts and retired from Friendship House after 19 years. Vic was known a quiet, dignified and a hard-working man who truly loved his wife, children, granddaughter, brothers, sisters and St. Vladimir's Church.

He is also survived by a son, Victor M. Fleck and wife, Jill, Avenel, N.J.; a daughter, Debbie Dommes and husband, Robert, Scranton; a granddaughter, Ashley Dommes; a brother, Richard Fleck and wife, Ann, Scranton; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by siblings, Michael and John Fleck, Mary Stumm, Anna Zymblosky, Katherine Prislupsky, Elizabeth Smulek and Rosalie Murphy.

A funeral liturgy will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church, by the Rev. Myron Myronyuk, pastor. Interment, parish cemetery, Minooka, with military honors accorded by the Army and the Dickson City Veterans Honor Guard.

Viewing for family and friends will be Monday, 4 to 7 p.m., at Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Ave., West Scranton. Panakhyda will be at 6:30 with rosary recital at 6:45 by St. Vladimir Church BVM. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred for St. Vladimir Church, 430 N. Seventh Ave., Scranton, PA 18503.
