Vito DiNapoli

Vito DiNapoli, 80, of Scranton, passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit, Dunmore. His wife of 54 years, Frances DiNapoli, passed away Oct. 5.

Born in Giardinello, Sicily, Vito was the son of the late Salvatore and Margherita Polizzi DiNapoli. Vito served in the Italian armed forces before moving to America. Vito loved to garden and make his famous homemade wine and cheese. He found true joy in spending time with his grandchildren. They always put a sparkle in his eyes.

Vito was a devoted Catholic and belonged to St. Ann's Basilica Parish. He had a deep admiration for Padre Pio.

Surviving are a daughter, Margherita and husband, Peter Sabia Jr., of Dunmore; a sister, Josephine DiNapoli Talluto, Sicily; brother, Giovanni Battista DiNapoli, Sicily; sister-in-law, Lillian Leo, Scranton; grandchildren, Peter, Vito and Anthony Sabia, Dunmore; Sabrina DiNapoli, Katy, Texas; daughter-in-law, Tina DiNapoli, Katy, Texas; nieces and nephews.

Vito was preceded in death by his wife, Frances DiNapoli; his son, Salvatore DiNapoli; and a sister, Rosa DiNapoli Caruso.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kenneth Sebastianelli, Maria McGraw, Telespond Senior Services, the staff of Hospice of Sacred Heart, Laverne Nicole, Tony Murphy and Heather Mazur.

The funeral will be Wednesday, Nov. 21, from the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at noon in St. Ann's Basilica Parish, 1230 St. Ann's St., Scranton. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.

Friends and family may pay their respects today, Nov. 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Telespond Senior Services, 1200 Saginaw St., Scranton, PA 18505; or PLCTA, the Parents Loving Children through Autism Foundation, 1243 Wyoming Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.
