Walter Andrew Stevens (Stefursky), 84, formerly of Eynon, Pa., died Tuesday evening, Nov. 2, due to health complications at Broward Health Hospital in Coral Springs, Fla.
He was predeceased by his wife in 2008, the former Cindy Kathryn Danzey, due to breast cancer, and loving parents, the late Walter Stefursky in 1985, and the late Mary Winslow Stefursky in 1950.
He is survived by his five children, Kerri Stevens-Graziano, Richard Stevens and wife, Kimberly, John Stevens, Jaqueline Pearce and husband, Michael, and Victoria Sanborn and husband, David; and nine grandchildren, Santino Graziano, Taylor Stevens, Hannah Stevens, Alex Pearce, Sophia Pearce, Kathryn Pearce, Jack Pearce, John Sanborn and Dominic Sanborn; and former wife, Joan Zelno Stevens of Eynon.
Born in Peckville, Pa., he was a graduate of Archbald High School and attended the University of Scranton. Walt was a member of the Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, Jessup, Pa., and attended Ss. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Olyphant, Pa., when visiting Scranton.
He was owner and CEO of a publisher consulting firm, Publishers Communication Systems (PCS) in Coral Springs.
He was a member of his local parishes, attending Mass at St. Andrew's Catholic Church and Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, both of Coral Springs, where he was a member of the church choir, along with his wife, Cindy and served on the finance committee of the latter.
He was a supporter of the Broward County Police Benevolent Association, a member/coach of Coral Springs Little League Baseball for 15 years, and an avid sports enthusiast following his beloved New York Yankees and Redskins.
A funeral will be Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Parkland, Fla. The interment will follow at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery in North Lauderdale, Fla.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to the Wounded Warriors Foundation or to your local Catholic church.
