William James (Jim) McHale, 74, passed away in Venice, Fla. on Nov. 11, 2023, after a brief illness. His wife of 50 years is the former Maryellen Donlan.
Jim was born in Scranton, Pa., on Feb. 2, 1949, to the late William James and Mary Gerrity McHale. Raised in the Green Ridge section, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, Fairleigh Dickinson University and a United States Air Force veteran. He worked in the office products industry for over 30 years.
A devoted family man, Jim was the life of every party. He loved to golf, was an avid reader of crime novels, and always said yes to ice cream. He was always happy to lend a hand and be a friend. He loved a good (or bad) cup of coffee with a good conversation. He was fortunate enough to travel with Maryellen to many places, particularly loving Italy, France and Utah.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jimmy (Lauren) McHale, Wyckoff, N.J.; Alison Skoff, Scranton, Pa.; Danny McHale, Venice, Fla.; grandchildren, Maggie (Patrick), Caroline, Jake, Kaely, Aidan, Sean and Lily; cherished family member, JB Skoff, Dunmore, Pa.; and five siblings, Jake McHale (Kathy), Wesley Chapel, Fla.; Bob McHale, Scranton, Pa.; Lynne Walker (Bob), Scranton, Pa.; Marianne Hydock (Chuck), Moosic, Pa.; Kathy Ruane (Mike), Dunmore, Pa.; and many other beloved family and friends. He was preceded in death by his infant sister, Mary Colleen.
Arrangements through the National Cremation Society and interment at the Sarasota National Cemetery. The family will hold a Celebration of Life for Jim in spring 2024. Donations in Jim's honor may be made to the charity of your choice.

My friend since kindergarten at Robert Morris School. Then moved on to St. Clare School together for eight years. Also many happy memories at my grandmother´s cottage at Lake Ariel and working for my Dad, along with Pat Gerrity, who also died too young, when my Dad built a house in Clark Summit. After we first met, Jim´s Mom, Mary and my Mom, Audrey became great friends too. Very sorry that they all are gone. I´m sure they´re all with God in Heaven!
Condolences to Maryellen and all of the McHales!
