Bernadine Distlerath

St Clair - Bernadine Rose Distlerath, age 94, of Hollywood, Florida died June 2, 2018 in Boca Raton, Florida of natural causes. Bernadine was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 31, 1923 to Raffaele and Amelia Giannuzzi. She married Raymond William Distlerath on August 31, 1947, and is survived by her children, Marlene Ann Evans and Richard Raymond Distlerath (Linda) and her grandson, Brian Mallory Evans. Bernadine was predeceased by her husband Raymond; her sisters Florence Vennettilli and Olympia Gasiorek; her brother Louis Giannuzzi; her brother-in-laws Gino Vennettilli and Stanley Gasiorek; and sister-in-law Mary Ellen Giannuzzi. She was also predeceased by the immediate family of her husband Raymond, including: Donald and Alice Distelrath, Bernard and Rosemary Distlerath, Clarence and Joyce Schneider, and John and Justine Campbell.

Bernadine graduated from Pershing High School in Detroit, Michigan, and received her nursing degree from Providence Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit, Michigan. Bernadine and her husband Raymond raised their family in St. Clair, Michigan and moved to Sterling Heights, Michigan in 1966. Bernadine worked for 20 years as a neurosurgical nurse at South Macomb Hospital in Warren, Michigan. Bernadine was active in St. Malachy Catholic Church in Sterling Heights, Michigan, serving as both Eucharistic and Pastoral ministers and Editor of the Silver Jubilee History of St. Malachy. Bernadine had a lifelong love for baseball and regularly followed the Detroit Tigers while in Michigan and subsequently the Florida Marlins after moving to Florida in 2001.

Bernadine was buried at St. Mary's Cemetery in St. Clair, Michigan on October 8, 2018.

Marlene and Dick I am so sorry to read about your mothers passing. I will keep your family in my prayers. So many wonderful memories of the times in St Clair. Bernadine was a special lady.
