Imlay City
Bruce Alan Rubenstein, 71, of Imlay City, MI, died Monday, August 15, 2016 at his home. He was born February 19, 1945. He is the son of the late Justin and Louise Rubenstein.
He earned his Bachelor, Master, and Doctorate degrees at Michigan State University.
Bruce was a professor at the University of Michigan - Flint. His life revolved around his students, University of Michigan - Flint, and Michigan State University.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah of Imlay City, MI.
Funeral service is 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Visiting is 10-11 am at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City.

My condolences on the death of a wonderful man and good friend. To Deborah, I wish you the best in this difficult time. It was always a pleasure to meet with him in his office, where we had many good discussions. In these last months he maintained good spirits in his messages, in what had to be difficult times. Dr. Rubenstein was easily the greatest professor I ever had. His storytelling in his classes are legendary and the way he conducted himself was admirable. I am truly mourning this loss, not only for his family, but for allof us who thought so highly of this great man. God rest your soul.

I really only knew Dr. Rubenstein as my professor, but he made a major impact on me in the few courses I had with him. His love for history and tradition were unmatched and everyone knew they were in for a good story when he walked in the door. I'll never forget his charisma, wit, and desire to make an impact on his students.

Dear Rubenstein Family...I'm so sorry for your loss. I was a student at U of M Flint and can't say enough about Dr. Rubenstein! I signed up for several of his classes during my time at the University. He had a way of making history come alive. Sometimes I would get so wrapped up in the presentation that I would forget to take notes! He was a great Professor!
