Jacqueline Haase

February 1, 2014

I received a call this afternoon from a friend i have not spoken to in 16 years. She told me about the passing of a very special woman. Dennis, I hope you can see this; it is Jackie Haase, and Emily used to give me horseback riding lessons when I was in 9th grade. Emily was such an integral part of my life as i was growing up as a teenager. She listen when i needed it, gave me passion to pursue my dreams, and encouraged me to do my best. I can close my eyes, and even tough i am 30 years old now, i can still hear her telling me the story of how she fell in love with Dennis as i sit a their kitchen table. My fondest memories are of Dennis and Emily showing me how to ride as they teach me about the world and how i can be the best at what ever i choose. Ironically, i drove by their old house just this past summer to reminisce of the wonderful times i had with them. I can still smell the incense she used to burn and i can still smell the straw the horses used to eat as we fed them their evening meal. Emily will never be lost in my heart and I hope that her family knows what a wonderful inspiration she was to a troubled 14 year old who needed to find her way. I am now 30, and I am the Deputy Director of a not for-profit organization that helps at-risk youth make better decisions and find their way in life. I don't doubt for a second that Emily helped me be who I am today, and I am so blessed to have experienced a part of her in my life. I hope anyone who reads this can contact Dennis Graves and let him know i am thinking of him. Please provide him my number which is 734-756-4938 so i can share my experiences with him again, even though it is 16 years past the last time I saw her. God does amazing things and lets us know when we need to connect with others. My only regret is that i could not tell her in person how i feel. I only pray that in death she can hear this message and know how much i loved her.
