Gary Sefton Obituary

Gary Lee Sefton Carsonville Gary Lee Sefton, age 59, left us unexpectedly on Wednesday evening, May 19, 2010 to carry on his constant compassionate work for others in heaven. He was born April 3, 1951 in Cass City, son of Vivian (Martin) Sefton and the late Leroy Sefton. Gary surprised his many friends, family, neighbors and strangers with favors and visits he gave so readily to others. Blended with his unbelievable sense of humor was his love of anything Americana. Antiques, Chris Craft boats, Cushman Motor Scooter and everyone's favorite, the Rockola Juke Box. Gary's under graduate degree was in Labor relations at Western Michigan, where he also obtained his pilots' license before moving on for his Master's degree work at Michigan State. Post graduation Gary worked at Union Carbide in Nashville Tennessee and Cleveland, Ohio. Gary was then employed at Speed Queen in Ripon, Wisconsin, in the late 70's moved on to Morton Salt in Marysville, Michigan. Gary and his wife Donna married June 19, 1982 in the Lexington Co. Park #2, and moved into private business in the early 80's operating The Sandusky Car Wash, then Sunset Mobile Home Park also in Sandusky, Michigan. Some of Gary' s passions that he shared with others were his love of flying and Cushman Motor Scooters helping to establish the Vintage Motor Bike Club in the Thumb area. Gary was active with a number of civic organizations such as Kiwanis and the Rotary Club where he served as the Marysville branch president in the mid 90's. Surviving family members include his wife Donna Faye (Leggett), Mother, Vivian Sefton, Brothers Roy, Paul, sister Dyan and 2 nieces and 2 nephews. Gary was very close to his favorite mother-in-law Faye Leggett. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2010, in the Pomeroy Funeral Home, Lexington. Mr. James Opferman will officiate. Visitation will be 3 - 9 p.m. Monday and 10 - 11 a.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. www.pomeroyfuneralhomes.com

I am very sorry to hear the news...I truly enjoyed working with Gary. We had some very nice visits throughout the past five years that I have known him. He and his brother Paul had just been in and brought me a coffee the week before. He was always so happy! Such a kind man and I will truly miss seeing him. He has a voice that I will always remember.
