Gerald McGraw Obituary

Gerald R. McGraw Marysville Gerald R. McGraw, 65, of Marysville, died Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Blue Water Hospice House. He was born October 31, 1946 in Port Huron to Gerald and Dorothy (Lazurka) McGraw. Jerry graduated from Marysville High School in 1965 and served in the U.S. Army in Germany with the 101st Airborne. He also served in the National Guard for eight years. He was a Past Commander of Marysville American Legion Post 449. Jerry was employed at Prestolite in Port Huron during his early years and at Jordan Creek Plastics from 1997 to 2008. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, canning and was a master joke teller. His quick wit will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cathy (Shirkey); and a son, Daniel. He is survived by his brother, Edward (Gloria) McGraw of Port Huron; his sister, Mary Smith of Indian River; nephews, Eric (Rebecca) Larkin of St. Clair Shores, Jeffery (Suzanna) McGraw of Spring Arbor and David (Natalie) McGraw of Marysville; great-nieces, Bailee and Bethanie McGraw and Leah Grace Larkin; and great-nephews, Brennan, Aidan and Liam McGraw. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, 912 Lapeer Avenue, Port Huron. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2012 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Michael P. Herman will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council. My thoughts and prayers are with Jerry McGraw's family and friends. Mary and I just got back into town and read this on Sunday Night. Jerry was a great soldier and a great mentor!! But most of all Jerry was a great friend to us all! He will be greatly missed and he will always be in our hearts.
