Jeanette Postalka Marine City Jeanette Postalka, 84, of Marine City, was reunited with her late husband, John, on Wednesday, October 24, 2012. Jeanette led an extraordinary life, full of meaning and purpose. As a young wife and mother of two small children, her expectations changed when her husband, John, was stricken with polio which left him paralyzed and with complications that, at times, threatened his life. Jeanette became his sole caretaker for over forty years. She handled difficulties with grace, dignity, and an inner strength that was an inspiration to all who knew her. She remained grounded, never forgetting what mattered most in life. She lived simply and honestly, fully dedicating herself to her husband and children; to family. She fought a battle with lymphoma, and won; she faced innumerable losses, and somehow, her remarkable spirit found the courage to live. Through our grief, we are consoled in the knowledge that she will finally dance with her husband, that she will kiss her daughter, laugh with her nephew, tease her big brother, hug her parents, and meet all of those who came before her in this world because now, at last, she is home. Jeanette was preceded in death by husband, John; daughter, Jill Furtaw; brother, Kenneth Callahan; and nephew, Michael Callahan. She is survived by her son, John (Mary) Postalka; grandchildren, Joanne (Keith) Zobl, Donna (Dave) Rubio, John Postalka, Sara (John) Postalka, Jessica (John) Furtaw; and great grandchildren, Joel, Jacob, Jack, Josie, Hailey. Services will take place on Friday at 12 Noon in Bower-Rose Funeral Home, Marine City, with visitation on Friday 10 A.M. - 12 Noon.
