Mark Spencer Obituary
Port Huron
Mark W. Spencer, age 59 of Port Huron died November 17, 2013 in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after a long illness. He was born March 25, 1954 in Port Huron and was a lifelong resident. He married Mary J. Markel on June 2, 1978 in Marine City. Mark worked for several years at Becker Metal Works before he was forced to retire due to his health. He enjoyed raising Angelfish, and was a member of the Baha'i Faith. Mark was a musician and played in several area bands. He played bass guitar and steel guitar.
He is survived by his wife, Mary J. Spencer, 4 children, Mark Spencer, Alysia (Doug) Ferrier, Iris and Claire Spencer, 5 grandchildren, Dougie, Kyle, Aleigha Ferrier, and Logan and Isabella Spencer, his aunt, Nancy Morgan, a cousin, Stephen Spencer, 2 sisters-in-law, Diane Markel and Julie (Lou) Wilson, 2 brothers-in-law, David (Gerri Ann) Markel, and Marvin (Kathy) Markel, and his father-in-law, Marvin Markel Sr. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Spencer - McBride, and his grandparents who raised him, Lawrence and Myrtle Spencer.
A funeral service will take place at 11 AM Wednesday in the Smith Family Funeral Home - South, 1230 7th Street with The Rev. Fr. Brian K. Cokonougher officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM, and on Wednesday beginning at 10 AM in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. www.smithfamilyfuneralhome.com.
