Beverly Souther Obituary

GIBSONVILLE - Beverly "Bev" Riggins Souther, 62, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Guilford County on January 3, 1955 to the late Charles Edward and Kay Frances Young Riggins.

Beverly was a member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church and worked for State Farm Insurance as an agent for over 30 years. She was known for her hard work and love for her customers. She enjoyed horseback riding and developed many skills as an equestrian as she won the title of Appaloosa Queen in Tennessee. She enjoyed the beach and was an animal lover.

As Beverly battled cancer for the last 4 ½ years, she gained a new perspective and appreciation for her friends, family and the many simple everyday activities that we often take for granted. She lit up a room with her presence and her joy and laughter became infectious.

As Beverly's love grew for others, she also felt loved more than ever before. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and her dog, "Snooki".

She is survived by her daughter, Nikki Kerr and husband, Christopher; son, Gavan Holden and significant other, Tika Fowler; grandsons, Josiah and Oliver; sisters, Alisa Riggins, Alison Folwell and husband Darren; brothers, Jaime "Jim" Riggins and wife Marcia, Steve Riggins and wife Robin; aunts and uncle, Faye Dennis and Jim Young and wife Pam.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Alamance Memorial Park by her sister, Alison Folwell and Pastor J.D. Weed. Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215 or to the Human Society of Alamance County, 2444 Tribek Ct, Burlington, NC 27215.

To Bev - one of the finest women ever. She was always positive, regardless of circumstance, and full of love. I was once her sister-in-law and loved her very much. She will be sorely missed here on earth, although I'm sure the angels are rejoicing to have her there! Love, Tammy

For the past ten years that I've known Bev, I've always seen her as a person that was so loving and giving. So happy when surrounded by animals and family no matter what was goi g in in her life. She is and always will be an inspiration to me and I pray that she is finally at peace and that the family will always remember her strength and courage! She definitely was so incredibly brave in all aspects of life and such a strong willed woman. I give all my love to the family and friends and pray that we all can come together to keep her passion and courage alive. Xoxox.

I never actually met Berverly and I will forever regret that. We were only Facebook friends. I always looked forward to our online chats about politics, dogs, children, grandchildren, music, sports and more. I felt like I had known her forever and will miss her. Rest in peace Bev.

I met Bev as her home health nurse 4 years ago. She was an enormous inspiration to me. No matter how bad she felt, she always had a smile to share. She is one of the strongest women I have ever known. She was a fighter with a gentle touch. The love she had for her children and animals, no other woman could compare. Bev will always remain in my heart. Rest well my friend. Love Always, Sharon
