Clara Lloyd Obituary

BURLINGTON - Mrs. Clara Oakes "Sugar" Lloyd, 84 of Burlington, died Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Hospice Home in Burlington.

A native of Halifax County, VA, Mrs. Lloyd was the wife of the late Norman Clayton Lloyd and the daughter of the late Joseph Gregory Oakes and the late Blanche Crews Oakes.

Mrs. Lloyd was a member of Community Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children; Joan Woods of Graham, Lois Buntin (Carl) of Burlington, Bonnie Barnwell (Harrell) of Burlington, Kenneth Lloyd (Janice) of Burlington, Brenda Lassiter (Warren) of Burlington, Keith Lloyd (Angela) of Graham and Scotty Lloyd (Rachel) of Julian; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren and three sisters, Martha Webb, Evelyn Webb and Peggy Womack, all of Halifax County, VA.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Lloyd was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Doug Buntin, Catina Buntin and Carl Leonard Buntin, Jr., a sister, Connie McDowell and a brother, Joseph Cullen Oakes.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 21, from noon until 1:30 p.m. at Rich and Thompson Funeral Service in Burlington. Other times they will be at the residence.

A funeral service will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. in the Rich and Thompson Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Ronnie Andrews. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
