Dorothy Kernodle Obituary

BURLINGTON - Dorothy "Dot" Taylor Kernodle, 91, of The Homeplace, 118 Alamance Road, Burlington, died at the Hospice Home on Monday, April 4, 2011 at 10:11 p.m.
A native of Halifax County, N.C., she was the wife of the late Charles Ervin Kernodle and the daughter of William Edward Taylor and Isla Green Taylor, both deceased. Dot was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church. She retired from Wooten Appliance as office manager.
Survivors include two daughters, Zody McDowell and husband Tim of Raleigh and Janice Kernodle of Graham; her grandchildren, Josh McDowell and wife Sandi of Elon, Chris McDowell Barrett of Raleigh, Jim Kernodle and wife D.J. of Goose Creek, S.C., Georgia Kernodle of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Bain Heffner III of Graham; four great-grandchildren, Anderson Barrett, Elizabeth Kernodle, Bryce Kernodle and Timothy McDowell; a sister, Rachel McGrath of Falls Church, Va.; and a brother, Robert Alton Taylor of Santee, Calif.
A graveside service will be conducted at Alamance Memorial Park on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Phil Hardy and Dr. Ed Taylor.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. After the service, they will be at the residence of Josh and Sandi McDowell, 208 Green Street, Elon, N.C.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C.

I worked with Dot, (Packaging Inc in 1967) she was truly a wonderful lady. She helped me through some trying times as a teenager.And she will be truly missed, sorry for your loss.

Zodie & Tim, Janice, Chris, Josh & Anderson:

Precious is a the word MeMe would use to describe Grandmother, and precious she was. Our world as we know it has lost a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Truly one of the greatest, from "The Greatest Generation".

So sorry for your loss, I didn't know her but I know Janice and her family I love the picture she is a beautiful woman. My sincere condolences for the whole family.
