Ethel Norton Duvall

1940 - 2018

Ethel Norton Duvall passed away June 6, 2018 at the Alamance-Caswell Hospice Home.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Burlington on Saturday, June 9 from 2 - 4 p.m.

She was born on April 6, 1940 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Donald and Ruth Norton. After high school she attended Colorado Women's College in Denver, Colorado. There she met her future husband, David Scott Duvall. They were happily married for 57 years.

They lived in Golden, Colorado; West Palm Beach, Florida; and for 40 years several towns in Connecticut, including Cobalt, before moving to Seven Lakes, North Carolina in 2002. They recently moved to the Twin Lakes Community in Burlington, North Carolina.

She worked in retail sales, but her favorite job was being a stay-at-home Mom. She is survived by two brothers, Raymond Norton and wife Deb of New York, New York and Robert Norton and wife Lynne of Savannah, Georgia.

She is also survived by her son, David John Duvall and his wife, Shelley, of South Riding, Virginia and three daughters: Christine Crockett and her husband, Mark, of Mebane, North Carolina; Dr. Diane Warner and her husband Todd of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; and Sue Duvall of Seattle, Washington. She adored her eight grandchildren.

She loved gardening, cooking, and traveling, having been to all 50 states as well as 35 countries on six continents. She enjoyed women's college basketball and was an avid fan of the University of Connecticut team, attending their first national championship game in 1995.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell County at 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
