Harvey Lindley Obituary

BURLINGTON - Mr. Harvey Winford Lindley Jr., age 86, of 3543 Fleming-Graham Road, died Thursday, April 12, 2012 at his home after several months of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Harvey Winford Lindley Sr. and the late Cassie Elizabeth Mattox Lindley and was married for 36 years to Mrs. Kay Kirkland Lindley, who survives.
Harvey graduated from Burlington High School in 1942 before joining the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was the former manager of Riverside Cafe in Graham before owning and operating H's Restaurant in Mebane and later served as vice president of General Maintenance Company until retiring after 15 years of service. Harvey was a member of First Baptist Church of Burlington, was a Mason with Bula Lodge 409 and was involved with the Oasis Shriners of Charlotte.
Mr. Lindley is survived by his wife of the home; three sons, Harvey W. Lindley III of Hillsborough, Mark A. Lindley and his wife Sandy, of Burlington and James D. Lindley and his wife Angie, of Huntsville, Ala. four grandchildren, Austin (Kristyn) Lindley, Aimee Lindley, Taylor Lindley and Carlin Aylsworth; two sisters, Frances (George) Clapp and Peggy Mullis, both of Burlington; and two brothers, J. Thomas Lindley Sr. and Jack R. (Dot) Lindley Sr., both of Burlington; and his special pet, "Scooter."
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Elizabeth McCauley; and a sister-in-law, Mary Johnston Lindley.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 15 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will conduct a private memorial service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the giver's choice.
