Jerry Sheets Obituary

GRAHAM - Jerry Dean Sheets, 73, of Graham, North Carolina, succumbed to cancer at the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family on December 30, 2018.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife June of 53 years, daughters Danielle (Tim) Christian, Lisa (Jan) Ots, son Gunnar Sheets, sisters Carloyn (Brent) Triplett and Kaye Sheets, and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. Jerry was a loving father, husband, grandfather and a friend to everyone.

Jerry loved sports, especially college basketball, where his favorite team was the North Carolina Tarheels. He worked as a territory sales manager for Gillette for over 30 years. He spent his free time creating beautiful wood pieces and watching various sports games on tv. He really enjoyed hanging out with friends and family. Jerry was always there to help relatives or friends with household projects, haggling good deals, and whatever else people needed him for.

A special thank you to the people at Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell for their loving care and support during his final days.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 12, 2018 at Mt. Carmel Church of the Brethren, 9618 US Highway 221 N, Laurel Springs, NC 28644. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Cancer Research, in honor of Jerry (https://www.cancerresearch.org).

June, Danielle, Lisa & Gunnar,
Ronda and I are so sorry to hear about Jerry. I worked with Jerry in the same Gillette sales district for years and consider him a friend and a mentor. Jerry always was willing to help. We enjoyed the Gillette award trips with him and June. I'll cherish the fun times we had at sales meetings and the Bluefish fishing trips off the coast of North Carolina with Jerry and Bill Cronin.

I'm so sad to hear of Jerry's passing. He taught me how to sell when we worked together at Gillette in district 14. He was such a good friend and fun guy. He played a few tricks on me which I still laugh about to this day. I'm writing this with tears in my eyes. Such a loss!

Thirty years of working with Jerry at Gillette, we had our share of hard work and lots of fun. My best memories are of those "Gillette" fishing trips we took. Gayle and I enjoyed our many Winner Circle trips that always included June and Jerry. Jerry will forever be missed.
