John Withers Obituary

MEBANE - Mr. John Fred Withers, 80, of 305 E. McKinley St., died March 29, 2013 at his residence.
He was the husband of the late Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Ruffin Withers and son of Mr. James and Mrs. Hattie Ritter Withers, both deceased.
Survivors include four sons, Douglas Ruffin of Greensboro, John Withers and James Withers, both of Burlington and Gary McAdoo of Efland; six daughters, Francine Ratliff (Johnson) of Burlington, Rose Hester, Ann Withers, Kay Withers, Hattie Withers and Kimberly Withers, all of Mebane; a sister, Rose Holland of New York; 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Withers was preceded in death by two sons, Anthony Ruffin and Robert Withers; and five brothers and two sisters.
Public viewing will be Tuesday from 1 to 9 p.m. at Sharpe Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 7 to 8, and at other times at the home.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. April 3, at Mebane First Baptist Church. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
