Macy Pettigrew Obituary

GIBSONVILLE - Macy Michelle Pettigrew, 20, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born in Guilford County on February 20, 1997 to Kevin Pettigrew and Sherri French Sockwell.

Macy graduated from Western High School in 2015. She worked at Chartwells/UNCG and also as a waitress for Harbor Inn, Burke Manor and Petra Hookah Lounge. She enjoyed music, photography, art, traveling and exploring nature. Most of all, Macy loved people and was a very selfless and compassionate individual always looking for opportunities to help people in need. She demonstrated humility, gentleness and a giving heart and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her father, Kevin Pettigrew and wife Teri; her mother, Sherri French Sockwell and husband William; brother, Wesley Pettigrew; twin sister, Morgan Pettigrew; half sisters, Jessica Pettigrew and Autumn Sockwell; Step Sisters, Shannon Whitfield and husband Justin, Katie Summers and husband Brandon and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Judy and Ray French and paternal grandparents, Grover and Mary Lee Pettigrew.

A service to celebrate Macy's life will be held 2:30 pm on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at People's Memorial Christian Church by Pastor Tim Stevens, Pastor David Grinnell, Pastor Chuck Perkins and Youth Pastor Caleb Stevens with a private burial to follow. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Tuesday at Peoples Memorial Christian Church and other times at the father and mother's individual homes.

In lieu of flowers, Macy would be honored if you would make donation to the Durham Rescue Mission Men's Division or to the Women & Children's Division, Good Samaritan Inn at P.O. Box 11858, Durham, NC 27703. You may also donate online at www.durhamrescuemission.org/donation/
