Rosita Platisha Obituary

Rosita Platisha

June 26, 1928 - January 12, 2013

Rosita comfortably passed away in her home late Saturday evening, January 12, 2013 with her family by her side. She was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina where she lived as a young girl before moving to Montana and then to California where she met the love of her life, Emil Platisha who she was happily married to for over 62 years. She enjoyed an over 35 year career working as a nurse for Dr. Harrison McCandless until she retired some years ago. She was a long-time resident of the city of Torrance. She also enjoyed video poker, card games, and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her sons, Randy (daughter-in-law, Virginia) and Brian (daughter-in-law, Yvonne); and her four grandchildren, Emily, Jacob, Rebecca and Faith. She was the eldest of her sisters, Norma Lyons, Janey Kittell and Jinny Blandford. Rosita lived a long, happy life and she will truly be missed. A Memorial Service will be held in her loving memory this Saturday, January 19th at 4 p.m. Halverson, Stone, & Myers Mortuary 1223 Cravens Ave. Torrance, 90501. I finally sat down to write something about Auntie Ro, and the tears just started flowing. Life has been so SAD lately, and so busy, I think it finally hit me that Auntie Ro is gone from us. In reading the other messages from friends, family and loved ones, it reminds me so much of why I loved her so much: because her love was always so unconditional. I've had my share of ups and downs in my life, and I never once remember Auntie Ro judging me - she always loved me for who I was no matter what. I remember her every time I make tacos (or drive by Taco Bell), and think of her when I see the chewy peach or raspberry candies she loved so much. She was such a wonderful auntie and sister (amd I know my Mom misses her very much). I will forever miss and love her, but I know she is pain free, safe and in Sharyne and Grandma's arms.

With Much Love Always,
Roxanne

I just heard of Rosie's passing and wanted to say that I also worked for the Doctor next door to Dr. Mac's back in the 70's. Because it was only 4 Physicians, we were a close group. I always enjoyed working with Rosie. She will never be forgotten!

Randy & Brian, I can't tell you how sorry I was to hear of your mother's passing. Rosita was such a sweet and kind lady and I will always remember her for that beautiful smile that she always displayed. I always admired her tireless energy- nothing ever seemed to slow her down. I think your mother's greatest legacy will be in the wonderful children she raised. She was so very proud of all of you. I will miss those peanut butter sandwiches your mom made. Rosita, was my mom away from home and always treated me like her own. I hope that you will find the inner strength to get you both through this sad and difficult time. You have my very deepest and sincere sympathy.

I have known Rosie most of my life and, whether greeting me at Dr. McCandless' office as a little girl, or running into me at the grocery store with my own son in tow, Rosie always had the most wonderful smile and sparkle in her eyes. What a lovely woman she was and how luck I was to have known her. My heartfelt sympathy to the Platisha family.

Janey, it was so nice to talk with you however wish the circustances were different but like we said it was time for her to be with God and see all her loved ones who have waited to see her and are now celebrating with so many and I know playing poker!
My Rosie was my special friend and how blessed I was for that friendship and then to have worked with her for almost twenty years. She has given me beautiful memories as each one of you family members have and how Fred and I thank you.
Your memories must be so wonderful too and I know will sustain you through this difficult time. Fred and I hold each of you in our prayers now and always,
Big hugs are sent to you all,
Fred and Sheila

My sweet Auntie Ro...I will miss you so, so much....thank you for giving me your love for so many years. Thank you for being a great big sister and bestest friend ever to my mom. Thank you for driving us (in your blue Bonneville) on our annual trips to Knotts Berry Farm and Disneyland. Thank you for giving us our shots and loving me how I am always. Thank you for taking me on that senior citizen bus ride to Las Vegas when I turned 21. Thank you for always having candy in a dish and for making me like Yahtzee. So many memories. I know you are with Sharyne, which lessens the pain of losing you. I love you and will never forget you.
