Shirley Myers Obituary

BURLINGTON – Mrs. Shirley Burgess Myers, age 79, of Burlington, joined the Church Trimphant on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at her home after a sudden illness.

A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late Ray Kennedy Burgess and the late Mary Elizabeth Gantt Burgess and was married for 42 years to the late John A. Myers, who passed in 2007.

After her husband's death she became owner and President of John A. Myers Enterprises, which is a division of East Coast Rentals, Inc.

Shirley was a lifelong member of Piedmont Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder and Clerk of Session. She was active with the Shriner organization and was a "Shrinette".

Mrs. Myers is survived by her children, Jodi Myers, Cindy Myers and Jeffrey Myers along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Beulah Burgess Shepherd; and two brothers, Robert Ray Burgess and Kenneth Larry Burgess.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2018 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Elder Cynthia Ingle, Dr. Ben Williams and Elder Teena Burton. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. Monday prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
