William “Bill” Theodore Talbert

CHAPEL HILL - Mr. William "Bill" Theodore Talbert, 82, of 1626 Orange Chapel-Clover Garden Road, died at his residence Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at 9 p.m. after a brief illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Maxine Edwards Talbert, who survives and the son of William Allan Talbert and Grace McKinney Talbert, both deceased. He retired after 26 years from Chapel Hill Tire Co. Bill was an avid fan, leader and coach of semi-pro baseball and softball and former commissioner of the Amateur Softball Association. He was a member of Orange Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include two daughters, Donna Suttles and husband Frankie, of Chapel Hill and Denise Craig and husband Frank, of Efland; two sons, Garry Talbert and wife Vanessa and Eddie Talbert, all of Chapel Hill; two sisters, Hazel Ellington, of Graham and Doris Wright, of Burlington; four brothers, Charles Talbert and wife Brenda, of Oakton, Va., Silas Talbert and wife Pat, of Saxapahaw, Larry Talbert and wife Carolyn, of Hillsborough and Gerald Talbert, of Chapel Hill; eight grandchildren, Chad, Kyle, Jamie, Jeremy, Kelli, Ashley, Kimberly and Kacie; and four great-grandchildren, Sophie, Tyler, Jordan and Kylie; and one great-grandchild on the way, Bayler.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Addie King and two brothers, Bruce Talbert and Herman Talbert.
The funeral service will be conducted at Orange Chapel United Methodist Church on Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, at 2 p.m. by the Revs. Carl Belcher and Bob Eldridge. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes before the service.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence.
