Rita Garland Obituary
Mrs. Rita Grogan Gar-
land, age 76, of Foxdale
Circle, Toccoa, Ga., passed
away Friday, Sept. 26,
2025, at her residence sur-
rounded by family.
A daughter of the late
Wayne and Christine War-
ren Grogan, she was born
Aug. 1, 1949, in Hall Coun-
ty, Georgia, having lived
in Toccoa since 1977. She
was employed with the
United States Postal Ser-
vice for 24 years and loved
seeing and greeting her
customers every day. Mu-
sic and singing were an
enjoyable part of her life
for many years. Rita was a
member of the First Bap-
tist Church of Toccoa and
sang in the church choir
before becoming ill. Addi-
tionally, she was a mem-
ber of the Adult III Sunday
School Class that she dear-
ly loved. Her hobbies in-
cluded reading, technolo-
gy, and spending time
with family and longtime
friends.
In addition to her par-
ents, she was preceded in
death by a brother, James
Grogan.
She is survived by her
husband, Harold Garland;
three sons, Chris Disha-
roon, of Sullivans Island,
S.C., Ryan and Jessica
Disharoon of Dawsonville,
Ga. and Gregg and Jill
Garland of Toccoa, Ga.;
two grandchildren, Ella
and Andrew Disharoon of
Dawsonville, Ga.;
nephews, Andy (Erin
Loree) Grogan of
Nashville, Tenn. and Matt
(Jenny) Grogan, of
Athens, Ga.; niece, Sara
Grogan, of Tampa, Flori-
da.
Funeral services were
held Monday, Sept. 29,
2025, 2 p.m. in the Hillcrest
Chapel of the Acree-Davis
Funeral Home with the
Rev. Brett Sanders officiat-
ing. The following gentle-
men served as pallbearers;
Bobby Scott, Gregg Gar-
land, Nicky Gilleland,
Dale Bowers, Roger Gar-
land and Brian Williams.
The family received
friends at the Acree-Davis
Funeral Home on Monday
from 12 p.m. until the time
of the service. Online con-
dolences may be left for
the family at www.acree-
davisfh.com.
In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be made
in her memory to First
Baptist Church of Toccoa,
475 E. Tugalo Street, Toc-
coa, Georgia 30577.
Interment followed in
the Stephens Memorial
Gardens with the Acree-
Davis Funeral Home and
Crematory in charge of the
arrangements for Mrs.
Rita Grogan Garland.
