William Proctor Obituary
"Bill" Proctor, Jr., age 78,
of Toccoa, passed away
Sunday, Feb. 26, 2023 at
Northeast Georgia Hos-
pice in Gainesville, Ga.
Born Oct. 7, 1944 in
Vance County, N.C., he
was the son of the late
William Anderson Proc-
tor, Sr. and Mildred
Watkins Proctor. He was a
United States Army veter-
an and was a retired sales-
man with Gem Chem In-
dustries. Bill was of the
Baptist faith. He loved his
family, his puppy Buddy,
playing golf, coaching
baseball, and all sports in
general. Bill was a Georgia
Bulldog fan and supported
the Stephens County Indi-
ans.
Family members in-
clude his wife, Janice
Chastain Proctor; daugh-
ter and son-in-law, Tracey
Proctor-Bennett and Tony
of Toccoa; son and daugh-
ter-in-law, Todd and
Stacey Proctor of Toccoa;
granddaughter and her
husband, McKenzie Proc-
tor Viola and Sean; sister
and brother-in-law, Car-
olyn and Sam Barboar of
Angier, N.C.; sister-in-law
and brother-in-law, Debbie
and Tommy West of Cleve-
land, Ga.; and numerous
nieces and nephews. He
was preceded in death by
his sisters, Betty Bennett
and Marie Rowland.
The family received
friends at the mortuary
from 6-8 p.m. Monday,
Feb. 27, 2023.
Funeral services were
held at 2 p.m. Tuesday,
Feb. 28, 2023 from the
Chapel of Whitlock Mortu-
ary with the Rev. Jerrell
Beatty officiating.
Entombment followed
at Roselane Mausoleum
with military honors pro-
vided by United States
Army and Taps played by
William Tucker.
The following gentle-
men served as pallbearers;
Sean Viola, Erwin Carter,
Aaron Weiland, Justin
Sims, Willie Stephens, and
Mark Thomas. Ralph
Cheek, P. G. Vaughn,
Bruce Haddock, Richard
Pulliam, and William
Tucker served as hon-
orary pallbearers.
Flowers are optional.
