SHADY VALLEY - Margaret Lee Blevins Phillips, 95, of Shady Valley, TN, passed away on August 27, 2025 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Margaret was born July 23, 1930 in the Sutherland, TN community to her parents the late Robert W. Blevins and Gay Victoria Neely Blevins. She was preceded in death by her husband George Marshall Phillips(1983), her son, Robert "Bob" Marshall Phillips(2024); sisters, Mary Hill, Hazel Hutchinson, Dorothy Richie; and her brother, James "Jim" Blevins; daughter-in-law, Candy Simons Phillips; niece, Pat Hill; brothers-in-law, A.J. Hill, Bill Smith, and Bill Hutchinson.

Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Judy Sluder and husband David; sons, James "Jim" Phillips, Timothy "Tim" Phillips, Daniel "Danny" Phillips and wife Tammy Phillips; grandson and best friend, Wesston Lee Sluder; sister, Frances Blevins Smith; sister-in-law, Dee Blevins; and many nieces and nephews.

Margaret lived and grew up in the Sutherland, TN community where she picked beans with her sisters and brother. She also lived in Nome, Alaska for several years and worked in the Nome, Alaska Hospital billing office. She also worked in the old Johnson County Jail alongside her husband when he was a deputy. Margaret enjoyed gardening, especially growing tomatoes. She was an excellent cook and made the best burgers and fried chicken, Margaret was a member of Shady Valley TN Church of Christ. She enjoyed sitting in church with her friend Azona Blevins. Margaret will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Margaret had a great love and bond with her grandson, Wesston. He lovingly called her "Gaymom". They enjoyed having picnics together, going for walks, and going on car rides together to look for and count how many corn silos they could find.

Special thanks to David (son-in-law) for going over and beyond taking care of her and helping around the house and farm with anything that needed to be fixed and done. Margaret loved David like another son, and he loved her like a mom.
