On Monday, December 8, 2014 Andrew Edward Lawson completed his earth journey and is worthy of a celebration commemorating his 73 year span of sunshine as well as rain. His wife, Mattie, and family invite our friends and acquaintances to join us for a service in Andrew's honor to commence at 12 noon on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at tthe Robinson Family Mortuary, 192 Pinegrove Drive, Pineville. Rev. Charles Smith, pastor of First Baptist Church, Colfax, La will preside. Interment will be in Okeechobee, Florida.

Mattie, Kip, Jonnetta, Bonita, Emmanuel and Rosa aided and comforted our treasured Andrew as he weathered one storm after another is his quest for wellness. When God spoke to the final storm, Andrew answered, crossed over and found, I believe, his peace in the presence of the Lord. When he left, a piece of each of us, we who prayerfully and proudly shared the struggle, went with him. We gratefully accepted the challenge for it was instrumental in helping us take off the sack-cloth and dress ourselves in patience and trust in our Lord and Savior.

Andrew's life was an admirable example of an honest, laid-back, quiet man who had a heart without words rather than the other way around. He did not "talk" a heart of gold but loudly demonstrated it. He was a caring person who had a deep compassion for family, politics, music and art. A number of his pieces hang in homes and businesses and in at least one church in Colfax. He has art pieces in various towns in northern New Jersey and a few in Florida. Perhaps we should cease referencing Andrew in the past tense because he has left a legacy that will continue in the present for a time to come - virtuous qualities that we can proudly pass on to one another.

Andrew was born October 4, 1941 in Bryant, Florida to Mrs. Rupert Howard and Mr. Harry M. Lawson. He was graduated from Florida schools and after a four year tour of duty in the United States Air Force, was graduated from the Passaic School of Drafting in Passaic, New Jersesy. He furthered his studies at Passaic County Community College in Paterson, New Jersey, worked a short time in the manufacturing industry but found his niche as a mechanical draftsman for the balance of his work history.

Our beloved Andrew confessed Christ in April 2011 at Rapides Regional Medical Center under the guidance of an ordained minister. Though God and church-attendance were integral parts of Andrew's childhood, he strayed but finally accepted the truth that merely being a good person does not grant salvation. He then confessed Christ as the only way.

In addition to Andrew's parents and grandparents, he is also preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

Those of us left to remember, love and pass along Andrew's best qualities for the balance of our lives, in addition to his wife of 47 years are Kip and Jonnetta Lawson, Bonita and (husband) Emmanuel Bullock, Jacqueline and (husband) J.P. Pitts, Gerald and Paula Howard, Billie Daniels, Harry Lawson, Emily Thompson, Eunice and (husband) Johnnie Orr, Addie Robinson, Rosalyn Jordan, Beverly and (husband) Donald Peterman, Penny Lawson, Stephanie Daniels, Rosa Milner, Anthony K. Savage, Robin Dark, a myriad of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
