Charles Dow Obituary
Funeral services for Mr. Charles D. Dow will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2016 in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home , Ball, Louisiana with Rev. Joe Garlington officiating. Interment will be in Liberty Chapel Cemetery, Williana, Louisiana, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana.
Mr. Dow, age 80, of Dry Prong, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Dow retired from the Louisiana National Guard after 20 years of service. He worked for the State of Louisiana Dept. of Transportation as a Quality Control Inspector and retired after 35 years. He also worked as an Engineer for Pan American, Gilchrist Construction and Myer and Myer Associates. He loved hunting, fishing and growing a garden.
He is preceded in death by his wives, Joy Fay Dow and Rita Dow; brother, Joe Michael Dow.
He is survived by one son, Artie Dow (Joyce) of Ozark, Missouri; four daughters, Kim Patton (Frank) of Joyce, Fonda Daniel (Scott) of Williana, Sheila Franks (Steve) of Calvin and Alana Dow (Douglas) of Chadwick, Missouri; four brothers, Wayne Dow (Jan) of Monroe, Jim Dow (Bonnie) of Calhoun, Albert Dow of Winnfield and Robert Dow (Pat) of Lake Charles; three sisters, Juanita Dow of Ball, Vorice George (Lewis) of West Monroe and Frances McDonald (Tony) of Jena; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren.
Friends may call at Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

Grandpa played such an important part of me and my sister's life. He was a wonderful, caring, smart and talented man. There wasn't much he couldn't do. He will be missed dearly. Love you grandpa. May you rest in peace.

Charles was the artist for The Salt Rock, '55 and I was the editor. He was very talented and a very nice person and a pleasure to know. I so appreciated all the hard work he put. My sympathies to all the family.

I really enjoyed learning with Charles. I started with LADOTD in August 1982 while he was working in the training section. He was a very good trainer and guy. I actually talked with him not long ago.
