David Lamar Cockerham

Funeral services for David Lamar Cockerham will be at 2:00 PM Friday, November 30, 2012 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Jena with Rev. Reid Terry officiating. Interment will follow in the Chalk Hill Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers of Jena. Visitation will be Thursday, November 29, 2012 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Cockerham, 80, of Trout was born January 9, 1932 in Zenoria, to Warren and Ruth B. Gore Cockerham and passed from this life on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at LaSalle General Hospital.

He was a member of Searcy Baptist Church, an avid horseman and cattleman, veteran of the US Army, served his country in Korea, attended S.E. University in Lafayette, a banker for 30 years and V.P. at LaSalle State Bank until he retired in 1988.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Valerie "Polly" Cockerham; daughters, Valerie Harville and husband Gary of Trout, Tracey Cockerham of Trout and Jennifer Long and husband Kevin of Belah; brothers, Warren Lynn Cockerham of Alexandria and Steve Cockerham of Little Creek; 4 grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Joshua Harville, Baily and Zachary Long.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be the men from Searcy Baptist Church.
