Don Rogers Long

August 5, 1940 - March 1, 2015

Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Don Rogers Long will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Rush Funeral Home in Pineville, Louisiana with the Reverend's Cliff Stewart and Scott Smith officiating. Burial with graveside service and Military rites will follow at the Garden of Memories in Winnfield, Louisiana under the direction of Rush Funeral Home in Pineville, Louisiana.

Mr. Ryland, age 74, of Alexandria, entered heaven and was greeted by his father, T.C. (Ben) Long, his mother Vina Pendarvis Long and a brother, W.H. (Boots) Long. Don passed from this life on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Rapides Regional Medical Center with family at his side. He was born August 5, 1940 to the union of T.C. "Ben" Long and Vina Pendarvis Long.

Don proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard, while there he received Expert Rifleman M1, with an Expert Badge Award. He graduated from LaSalle High School and obtained his BA Degree from LA Tech. Don worked until he retired in the insurance claims industry. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Don was a loving husband, father, step-father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend.

Left to cherish wonderful memories are: his loving wife, Vera "Cissy" Coleman Long; three sons, William Long of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, David Long and wife Michelle of Ruston, Louisiana and Chris Long and wife Susan of Farmerville, Louisiana; stepdaughter Kristie Jernigan and husband David of Haughton, Louisiana; one brother; B.J. Long and wife Sammie of Pearland, Texas; one sister Romana Winberry and husband Doug of Tullos, Louisiana; nine grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be his three sons, William, David and Chris Long along with Gary Love, David Jernigan and Bart McGuffee. Honorary pallbearer will be his grandson, Harrison Long.

Friends may visit with the family at Rush Funeral Home in Pineville on Monday March 2, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
