Edward Prince Obituary

Thomas Edward Prince, III

Thomas Edward Prince, III was known in life as Tommy, Uncle Tommy, and as a child "Tom-Boy" and "Little Tommy". However, his most cherished name was Dad. He was very proud to be a father and claim this name.

Tommy was born on October 12, 1963 in Natchez, Mississippi. He spent most of his life in Pineville, Louisiana, graduating from Pineville High School in 1981. He also attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana.

On April 9, 2011, Tommy was diagnosed with cancer. He fought for five years and one day, losing his battle on April 10, 2016. He passed away at Grace Home in Alexandria, Louisiana at the age of 52.

Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Edward Prince, Jr.; his paternal grandparents, Thomas Edward Prince, Sr. and Teresa Hummel Prince, his maternal grandparents, John Ryan Griffin and Carrie McKay Griffin Cummings.

He is survived by his sons, Thomas Edward Prince IV and Chase Dauzat; his mother, Dorothy Griffin Prince; his sister, Leah Prince; and his former wife, mother of Thomas, and friend Danielle Isabell Prince. He proudly claimed his nieces as little sisters, Lindsey Todd Powell and her husband, Andrew and Haley Todd Pippin and her husband Ed; four great-nieces and nephews, along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who shared their love for him.

Tommy was a Christian and believed in a Higher Power, which gave him strength and faith during his last years of life.

A private memorial service, under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Alexandria, Louisiana will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016 to honor his life and memory.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Dorothy, Leah, the sons and all family members during this memorial time. The Prince Family were special neighbors when all our kids were young. The boys and when allowed the girls so enjoyed the woods of Edgewood and Susek Drives! We have so many funny, happy memories that include Tommy, Leah, Dorothy and Tom and hope that you will find comfort in all of your precious memories of the two Princes named Tom.

Tommy,
You are with Jesus now no doubt. I can say that it was a pleasure knowing, working, and hanging out with you throughout the years. You were a true friend and a very hardworking man. I know that I
will miss you and think of you each and every day.

Miss you Buddy,
Chuck Bailey

I knew his dad very well from Camp Grant Walker and worked on many of his volunteer projects.

I met this young man once or twice I think.
I met his mother, Dorothy, a very few times.

All very precious people in my eyes.

My genuine condolences to all affected by this untimely death. I miss his dad greatly.

Good thoughts and prayers to all of you.

I knew Tommy from Pineville High School and would occasionally see him over the years. He was a good guy and his Mom is a wonderful person. He is with God now and no longer in pain. Condolences to his family. Greg Jones PHS '79
