Edward Vercher Obituary
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Edward Vercher will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at St. Rita Catholic Church with Rev. Craig Scott and Rev. Dan O'Connor officiating. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-9:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013 and again Saturday, June 29, 2013 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Edward Vercher died at Rapides Regional Medical Center on June 25, 2013 surrounded by his family and friends.
Edward Owen Vercher was born in Alexandria, LA. to Ramie Vercher and Lucille Gallien Vercher on August 11, 1938. Edward served four years in the Navy following graduation from Menard High School. He then went to work for the United States Postal Service where he worked his way up to Regional Post Master in Jackson, Mississippi. At the time of his retirement, he was Post Master in Kinder, La. Following his retirement from the Postal Service, Edward opened Pop-a-Lock in Alexandria and Lake Charles, La. He also owned Vercher Trucking and was co-owner of Vercher Tags and Titles. Edward was a man of strength and courage. He was an entrepreneur who loved his family and friends. Edward was a generous and caring man who would give you the "shirt off his back".
Edward is preceded in death by his parents Ramie and Lucille Gallien Vercher; his ex-wife, Patricia Thiels Vercher; and four brothers: Herman, James O. (Ollie), Ramie, Jr (Bo), and Ambrose Vercher.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Grabowski and her husband, Jody of Woodworth, and special friend and companion, Linda Dauzat and her daughters, Donna Guillory and husband Jerry of Thibodaux and Alisha Pearson and husband Randle of Deville. He is survived by grandchildren, Emily and Nicholas Grabowski, and Ashleigh and Karli Eaves, Tyler Adams, Bradley Gaspard, Alexis and Dillan Pearson, Justin, Jacob, and John Guillory, and one great grandchild Bentley Eaves as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Thiels, Al Matthews, Greg Dunn, John Chop, Randy McBride and Kenny Sayes.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Tyler Adams, Nicholas Grabowski, Bradley Gaspard, Dillan Pearson, Justin Guillory, Jacob Guillory and John Guillory.

Linda, May your days ahead be filled with Gods love and guidance. I pray he gives you the strength you need to move forward during this difficult time. As I only had the pleasure of meeting Edward a few times, each time was very pleasant. You truly found your knight in shining armor.
