Ida Katherine "Kathy" Yates
Pineville - Funeral services for Mrs. Kathy Yates will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 10, 2018 at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville with Reverend Willis Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Alexandria Memorial Gardens, Woodworth, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.
Mrs. Yates, 66, of Pineville, entered eternal rest on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Rapides Regional Medical Center.
A graduate of Northwestern State University, Kathy held a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and retired after thirty-five years of teaching kindergarten and preschool handicapped. She was a devout Christian and lived every day according to her abiding and enduring faith in God. She loved singing praise songs, sewing, quilting with her sisters and praying for those in need. Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter and former Peace Corp volunteer. Providing quiet support for all who knew her, she was a foundation for the success of her students and family. Kathy will be dearly missed.
Mrs. Yates is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel, Sr. and Lenora Scalfano.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include her loving husband of forty-five years, Don Yates of Pineville; one daughter, Deborah Yates of New Orleans; two sons, Hank Yates and his wife Ali of New Orleans, Danny Yates of Austin, TX.; four sisters, Mary Anne Ward and her husband Darrell of Pineville, Emily Bonnette and her husband James of Alexandria, Susan Crouch and her husband Mike of Houston, TX., Sally Miller and her husband Mike of Lecompte; three brothers, Sammy Scalfano, Jr. and his wife Yvonne of Alexandria, Tommy Scalfano and his wife Jennie of Orange, TX., Eddie Scalfano and his wife Chris of Forest Hill; one sister-in-law, Linda Yates of Pineville and a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday, September 10, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
