John Hazleton Obituary

John Vincent Hazleton

John Vincent Hazleton, a native Louisiana son, passed away September 6, 2015 in Dallas, Texas with family at his side. Born in Alexandria, Louisiana in 1937, John and his two brothers, Tommy Hazleton and Vincent Hazleton, all graduated from Alexandria's Bolton High School. John treasured the friendships he made there.

John earned his BA in Speech and Theater from Northwest Louisiana State University and an MA in Theater from the University of Kansas.

He was an entrepreneur and started numerous successful businesses, but his love was fishing and cooking - a love he shared with family and friends. He never met a stranger, was kind, loving, wickedly funny and one of the best cooks around.

John is survived by his wife Sharon, two sons John Vincent Hazleton, Jr. and Stuart Hazleton, one daughter Alice Merritt Welsh, two stepdaughters Carol Pate and Laura Gadberry, and one stepson Brett Robinson. Surviving grandchildren are John Vincent Hazleton III, Sasha Welsh, Mary Welsh, Carl Welsh, Amber Pate, Elizabeth Pate, Owen Pate, Dylan Gadberry, Devon Gadberry, Ella Robinson, Ford Robinson, Lila Robinson and one great-granddaughter Lilly Mae Welsh. His brother Vincent Hazleton and sisters-in-law Janey Hazleton and Joyce Hazleton also survive him. His brother Tommy Hazleton preceded him in death.

Memorials may be sent to the research arm of the Alzheimer's organization, http://www.alz.org/research/overview.asp

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Sharon I just heard of John's passing and want to express my sympathy . Although John and I had not had contact for many years, I still had great admiration for him and feel a sense of loss. I hope all is well for you and your family. Best Wishes
