Joseph Hargrove, Jr.
A Time to Be Born: Sunrise November 28, 1938 to Joseph Henry Hargrove, Sr. and Willie Mae Sampratt Hargrove at home in Alexandria, Louisiana. Both parents preceded him in death.
A Time to Plant: Baptized at the age of 6 by the late Pastor Charles F. Smith, Sr., on Easter Sunday, at the Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church, where served in the Boys Scouts, played on the Nazarene Sports Team and Usher Ministry. His fruitfulness to multiply yield three blessed children: Anthony William "Tony Groove" Hargrove, Lisa A. Hargrove and Serena Ann Roberts; Six Grandchildren: Anthony Hargrove, Jr. Ashley Wilson, Alexis McDaniels, Kayla Garnett, and Jermaine H. Roberts; and Six Great Grandchildren: Azarie Mungro, Denim Mungro, Londyn, Sage Hill, Jarred C. Mack and Xavien M. Harden.
A Time to Learn: Joe Jr. as he was called by everyone, received his education in Rapides Parish and graduated from Peabody High School in 1957. He furthered his education in the U.S. Army in the Airborne Division and United States Government as a Pipe Fitter Technician for Forty Years.
A Time to Serve: With a Heart of Kindness, Spirit of Giving and Caring, Joe donated to numerous charity organizations ,his family, friends and as proprietor of Hargrove's Janitorial Service, donated his time and service to many other businesses.
A Time to Die: Joe Jr. transitioned home Sunday January 17, 2021 at Marigold Assistant Living Place in Alexandria, LA.
A Time to Mourn: Four Siblings: Jessie Hargrove Moody ( Joe) Memphis, TN; Janis Luvenia Hargrove, Alexandria, LA; Ronald David Hargrove(Robin) Bastrop, LA; Ann Leslie Hargrove-Foots, Alexandria, LA; His children, grand children and great grandchildren; Aunt: Lela Sampratt; Two Nieces: Winifred Payton, Joann M. Johnson; 5Nephews: Dr. S. Keith Hargrove, Harper Joseph Hargrove, Vincent Moody, Darryl Moody, (Beth) Carl J. Moody; Immediate Cousins: William D. and Helen Johnson, Sr. Naomi Goodwin (Orin) Temple Hills, MD, Gloria S. Sampratt, Alex Sampratt, III, Alexis S. Early, Cynthia Johnson Shorter, (John) William Johnson, Jr. Jerry Johnson, Beverly A. Samuel, Daniel W. Johnson, Michael Johnson, Shirley W. Baptiste, Linda, Faye, Isaiah Webster,Jr., Ivan and Kenton Smith; Dedicated God-Sister, Jean E. Bradford; Nelson Family Reunion; Friend: Erma Duell Lyons, Nazarene Baptist Church Family, the 1957 Class of Peabody High School and a host of relatives and friends.
A special Tribute to his Best Friend: George Fuller; Brother: Louis Samuel (Bay Brother) Hargrove; Brother-in-law: Leo "Coobeestick" Paxton, Niece: Carolyn Montague; Cousins: Cresia B. Smith, Anner Marie Green Trottie, John Alex Sampratt and Son, John "Pratt "DaCatt" Sampratt, who all proceeded Joe in death.
