Laura Briggs Obituary
A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Laura Briggs will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 4, 2016 at St. Rita Catholic Church, Alexandria with Father Taylor Reynolds officiating. Entombment will be in St. Joseph #2 Mausoleum, Marksville under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. and continued Friday from 8:00 a.m. until shortly before time of service.
Mrs. Briggs, 85, of Alexandria, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Oaks Care Center, Pineville.
Mrs. Briggs was a devoted member of St. Rita Catholic Church and during her career, she was a manager at Randall's Formal Wear. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be missed very much.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richmond J. Briggs; daughter, Cynthia Squyres; parents, Camille and Hazel Dauzat and brother, Havard Dauzat.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Patrick Briggs and Mike Briggs and wife, Patricia; sister, Ruth Ponthieux and husband, Rudy; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Mike Briggs, Jr., Derek Briggs, Timothy Wade, Larry Jinks, Howard McCormick and Calvin Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will include Jeremy Briggs, Justin Briggs, Larry Jinks III, Stephen Jinks and Daniel Briggs.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Louisiana Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692 Dallas, Texas 75284-0692.

I got to know Laura when she worked at Randall's in Alexandria. She was a classy lady who obviously took pride in her job and doing it well. I know she will be greatly missed. My sincere condolences.
