Sam Joseph Rini, Sr.

Alexandria - A Mass of Christian Burial for Sam Joseph Rini will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, June 3, 2021, at St. Rita Catholic Church with Reverend Anthony "Raj" Dharmaraj officiating and Reverend Daniel Hart co-officiating. Interment will be at Alexandria Memorial Gardens, Woodworth, Louisiana under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at Kramer Funeral Home, Alexandria, Louisiana. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be in the Kramer Chapel at 6:00 p.m. led by Reverend James Ferguson. Visitation will resume on Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.

Sam, a lifelong resident of Alexandria passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at age of 84.

Sam was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved God and loved his family very much.

Sam proudly served his country in the United States Army and shortly after his honorable discharge in 1959, began his construction business which he has owned and lead for 62 years. Sam had a gentle and quiet nature and always put others first. He left to his family a legacy of honesty, integrity, and a rich work ethic.

He loved going to his Miracle Place Camp with his family and friends where he created many memorable experiences that are truly cherished by all. Sam spent the majority of his past 7 years as the dedicated and loving caregiver to his wife Shirley after she suffered a stroke. His strength, dedication, determination, and commitment to his life-long partner in their final years together was an inspiration for his entire family.

Sam was preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Shirley Huffman Rini; his parents, John and Lena Genova Rini; sister, Marie Rini Carcara and her husband, Toney; sister, Lena Faye Rini Pontif and her husband, John; and his beloved father and mother-in-law, Irving and Sybil Laurent Huffman.

Those left to cherish his memory include his four sons, John Linn Rini and wife, Teresa Hay of Alexandria; Sam Joseph Rini, Jr and wife, Carolyn French of Argyle, Texas; Robert James Rini and wife, Julia Brittain of Alexandria; and Paul Louis Rini and wife, Rhonda Mire of Alexandria. Nine grandchildren: Joshua Ryan Hay, Christopher Michael Rini (Stacy), Victoria Linn Rini (Trey), Matthew Jordan Rini (Jenn), Sarah Marie Rini Orlich (Manny), Robert James Rini, Jr. (Tabatha), Andrew John Rini (Jessica), Paul Louis Rini, Jr. (Lindsey), Heather Marie Rini Pospisil (Donald) Twelve great-grandchildren: Alyssa Marie Hay, Isabelle Lena Hay, Bryson Michael Rini, Emma Leann Rini, Trinity Rose Dubea, Carter Ella Rini, Lillian Rose Rini, Anthony Lane Rini, Annistyn Marie Rini (due July), Porter Louis Rini, Parker Thomas Rini, Pearce Joseph Rini, Hazel Marie Pospisil. His sisters, Johnnie Louise Rini Hart (Tim) and Brenda Rini Daenen (Alan) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be his six grandsons, Joshua Hay, Christopher Rini, Matthew Rini, Robert Rini, Jr, Andrew Rini and Paul Rini, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be his three granddaughters, Victoria Rini, Sarah Rini Orlich and Heather Rini Pospisil.
