Scott Rogers Obituary

Scott Christopher Rogers

Scott Christopher Rogers, 35, passed away peacefully at his home in Paris, Texas, surrounded by family, on April 25, 2013. Scott fought a courageous ten year battle with leukemia, and complications from a bone marrow transplant. Scott's faith and trust in God never wavered. A private family service was conducted in Paris. A celebration of Scott's life will be held at 6:00 p.m., May 4th, at Crook Lake, in Paris, as Scott requested.

Born June 15, 1977 to George and Mary Rogers, in Alexandria, he attended school at St. Frances Cabrini, Brame and ASH, where he was in the Nat'l Honor Society, a Natural Helper and Editor-in-Chief of the Forum. His collegiate years were at Northwestern State University, where he played football, soccer, and was in PhiEtaSigma Nat'l Honor Society. He graduated from Louisiana Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering (Chapter President of PhiSigmaPi, member of TauBetaPi Honor Society, and played soccer). He was recruited by Kimberly Clark Corporation, Paris, Texas where he worked for 12 years.

Scott loved sports of all kinds, lettering in track, cross country, football and soccer at ASH. He began playing soccer at age 5, and became a referee at age 9. Until illness prevented, he continued to play, ref, and coach soccer. He especially loved fishing, duck hunting and cooking. Scott never met a stranger, and had a wonderful gift of gab.

Scott is survived by his wife of eleven years, Marcy Hebert Rogers, son, Logan, 7; and daughter, Claire, 6; parents George and Mary Rogers of Alexandria; sister, Stephanie Dupre (Scotty), and niece Emily of Washington; mother-in-law, Pam Cannatella (Robert); father-in-law, Mike Hebert; sister-in-law Christy Martin; niece Hailey and nephews Jake and Kayden, all of Cutoff, as well as a large extended family of aunts, uncles and a host of cousins.

A memorial fund has been established for the family at Red River Bank, 1412 Centre Ct., Alexandria, La 71301.
